When Does a Windshield Need to Be Replaced?
Not every crack or chip means you need a full windshield replacement — but many situations do. Here's when replacement is the right call:
- • The crack is longer than about 6 inches — most cracks in this range can't be structurally repaired
- • The damage is in the driver's direct line of sight, even if small — visual distortion is a safety issue
- • The crack or chip is near the edge of the windshield — edge damage compromises the seal and spreads quickly
- • The inner layer of laminated glass is damaged or delamination (white haze) has set in
- • A hailstorm left multiple impact points that together cover a large area
- • A previous repair failed or is causing new issues
If you're not sure whether you need replacement or just a repair, call us. We'll honestly assess the damage and recommend the right solution — we won't push a replacement if a repair will do.

Glass Sourcing
We stock glass for the most common vehicles in the Lubbock area — F-150s, Silverados, RAMs, Tacomas, common sedans and SUVs. Less common vehicles may require a short lead time.
Professional Installation
The old windshield is carefully removed. We clean and prime the frame, apply a high-strength urethane adhesive, and set the new glass precisely. Moldings are reinstalled and the work area is cleaned up.
Safe Drive-Away Time
We'll tell you the safe drive-away time — typically 1 hour for most modern adhesives, though we may recommend longer for maximum strength. In West Texas summer heat, cure times can be faster.
OEM vs. Aftermarket Glass — What We Use
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) glass is the same glass your vehicle came with from the factory. OEM-equivalent glass is manufactured to the same specifications by a third-party supplier. Both options are legal, safe, and appropriate — and both are far better than cheap, substandard glass.
We use quality OEM-equivalent glass as standard. If your vehicle requires OEM glass — some luxury vehicles, vehicles with heated windshields, or vehicles where dealer warranty is a concern — we can source it. We'll always tell you which you're getting and why.
For vehicles with ADAS systems (cameras or sensors behind the windshield), we also offer recalibration services to make sure your lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and other safety systems work correctly after the replacement.
Hail Damage in Lubbock
Lubbock is no stranger to severe hail. We're on the eastern edge of Tornado Alley and see some of the most active hail seasons in the nation. A single storm can leave dozens of impact points on a windshield, making replacement necessary even when no single crack is large.
If your neighborhood got hit — whether you're in South Overton, Arnett Benson, Maxey Park, or anywhere else in Lubbock — and you're not sure how bad the windshield damage is, call us for an assessment. We're well-versed in handling high-volume hail event situations and can often get out to you quickly, even when the whole city is calling after a storm.
The good news: hail damage is covered by comprehensive auto insurance. If you have comprehensive coverage, windshield replacement after a hailstorm typically costs you nothing but your deductible — and in Texas, many policies have a separate lower deductible for glass.
